Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh): An explosion at a police outpost in Ghaziabad left a food delivery worker injured, prompting authorities to deploy the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and bomb disposal teams to the site, police said on Saturday.

The blast occurred around 9 pm on Friday at the Vasundhara police outpost, which falls under the Indirapuram police station. The explosion damaged window panes, while a delivery worker present at the outpost sustained minor injuries, they said.

The cause and motive behind the explosion are yet to be established. However, police said the investigation would examine all possible angles, including a suspected terrorist link.

Authorities are also verifying a social media post by an organisation identified as “Tehrik Ul Mujahideen”, which has claimed responsibility for the blast.

Ghaziabad Police Commissioner Ravinder Goud told the media that the cause of the explosion was yet to be ascertained and that a thorough investigation was underway.

“All angles are being investigated,” a senior police officer said, adding that an official police statement was still awaited.

Forensic teams have collected samples from the site and sent them to a laboratory in Agra for examination, a police officer said.

Meanwhile, DCP Rizul Kumar told ANI that no traces of explosive material had been recovered from the site.

Investigators are also examining CCTV footage to identify those responsible for the explosion.
